Marco
Coda is the owner and chief instructor of Land’s End Sailing School.
He is a Canadian Yachting Association (CYA) Instructor-Evaluator in
addition to Basic, Intermediate, Advanced Cruising and Coastal Navigation instructor
certifications. Marco also sits on the Board of Directors for BC
Sailing and serves as the provincial Learn to Cruise Committee Chair
which allows him to influence and keep up to date with the latest
developments in Canadian sailing.
Originally a canoe instructor, Marco has also worked as a
white water kayak instructor, a sea kayak guide and a Professional Association of Diving Instructors
(PADI) divemaster. Prior to becoming a full time sailing instructor and business owner Marco was employed as an instructor for the Canadian Outdoor Leadership Training
School (COLT) at Strathcona Park Lodge on Vancouver Island. In the
winter months before permanently relocating to coastal British Columbia in 1994 he was also employed as a downhill ski instructor and pro ski patroller. In addition to his various instructor certifications Marco also holds Advanced Wilderness Emergency Response and Occupational First Aid Level 3 certificates.
When not on the water Marco works as a paramedic with the British
Columbia Ambulance Service serving his home community of Bowen Island.
Marco’s formal education in leadership development consists of Canadian Armed Forces leadership training as well as a diploma in Outdoor Recreation Leadership from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology. As an outdoor education professional Marco has worked with a variety of social groups including school children, teenagers, senior citizens and corporate teams teaching leadership skills and developing effective team dynamics in both English and French.
Marco has chosen this vocation because of his love for people and watersports and his genuine desire to share his skills, knowledge and enthusiasm with others.
