Sailing School is proud to be a member school of the Canadian
Yachting Association. Our cruising courses lead to
internationally recognized certification. Click on the courses in

Craft Operator's Card
All operators of powered vessels of any size were required to
obtain an Operator Card by Sept 15, 2009. Canadian boaters caught
without the card now risk a $250 fine.
All power boaters regardless of age, horsepower or size of boat
need a PCOC - It's the law.

CYA/IYT Basic Cruising Standard
(Day Skipper)
Our
4 day Basic differs from other schools that offer a 5 day course. Why?
Many people are experimenting with the cruising environment for the
first time. It is a compact, foreign, challenging environment that
requires consideration for others and some sacrifice of personal
space. Our 4 day Sat-Tuesday format will provide all the CYA required
basic training that leaves nothing out. If the marine environment is
for you, then, by all means, after Basic, consider the 5 day Intermediate course
for a longer cruise-training experience. And you will know what to
expect.

CYA/IYT Intermediate
Cruising
(Coastal Skipper)
The
minimum recommended certification for bareboat chartering world wide. This
5 day liveaboard course (once again we look after all the
provisioning, cooking and cleaning) emphasizes on the water,
passage-making skills such as boat systems, health and safety,
auxiliary engines, provisioning, advanced anchoring techniques,
weather interpretation, navigation and cruising spinnaker handling.

CYA Coastal Navigation
(Pre-req. for Advanced Coastal Skipper)
GPS
is a wonderful accurate tool but when things go awry, not if...but
when; mariners must have a tried and true technique to fall back on.
Discover the art of coastal navigation. Gain the skills and
confidence to navigate safely within sight of land using the
navigator's basic tools: charts, compass and navigational
aids. Coastal Navigation forms a major part of the Intermediate Cruising certificate. Fees include text book, exercise
manual and chart.

IYT Bareboat
Skipper
Objective:
"To be be able to act safely as skipper and crew of a sailing
cruiser of 8 -15 metres, operating by day and in coastal or
inland water in any weather."
This says it all; the
ultimate Coastal Cruising certification.Widely recognized in the Med
and Asia.A 6 day course.

VHF Radio
Operator
Required
radio licence to operate marine VHF radio. Taught in classroom or on
board.

Booking
Policy
A 30% deposit is required for booking. The 70%
balance is due one month prior to cruise departure date. If you need
to cancel for any reason. we would retain the 30% deposit, but if the
70% had been paid, it would be refunded. In the remote possibility
that we have to cancel, there would be a full refund, but we cannot be
responsible for any consequential costs.
